From June 1-5, the PC CARES Michigan team welcomed our first cohort of Training of Facilitators (ToF) participants, representing the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, Nottowaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi, Gun Lake Tribe, and AIHFS in Detroit to the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research in Ann Arbor.
Throughout the week, 17 participants practiced leading Learning Circles, learned from Elders, and built connections with one another as they prepared to bring PC CARES back to their home communities. The week included hands-on facilitation practice and time spent planning how to put what they learned into action.
The first-ever Michigan Training of Facilitators was supported by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund to expand and adapt PC CARES to new Tribal communities. We're so grateful to everyone who took part in this milestone moment, and we're looking forward to following these new facilitators as they begin leading Learning Circles in their communities!
