Lucas Trout is a research fellow at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the program coordinator for PC CARES, supporting all participating Northwest Alaska villages. He also leads an interdisciplinary Division of Social Medicine at Maniilaq Association, focused on improving health outcomes through social medicine education, policy, and practice. Lucas studied psychology and wilderness medicine at Burlington College and holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Seattle University. A former firefighter, search and rescuer, and wilderness therapy guide, Lucas now works with medical staff, community members, and the PC CARES team to end suicide in Northwest Alaska.
